Hot Times, Summer in the City

June 28th, 2012

Welcome to the 2012 summer edition of the Princess Animal blog. Was there a 2011 or 1010 edition, you ask? I can’t remember, and summer is all about laziness, so I’m not going to check.

Anyhoozles, thought I’d throw some sunny summer knits at y’all. Sure, seeing as it’s San Francisco, I could’ve thrown in a heavy aran sweater or two, but I’m sticking with theme here.

1) Lattice Cap Sleeve top: This is my current obsession. All the girls in the shop are making it–now including me. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it uses up a minimum of yarn. Great for a first sweater project. Look ma, no sleeves!  Because I love this so much, and the pattern is free, I’m making it the July Project of the Month. 20% off the yarn, yo, for the month of July.

2) Arrowhead camisole: love love love this. In the summer issue of Interweave. Making it for a friend of mine. Almost done. Hideously running out of yarn, btw, and they’re not making it anymore, so any generous person who can see fit to throw me a ball or two of Cascade Pima Tencel dusky rose, shade 9587, will be rewarded with trade, dinero or love. My kingdom for a ball of dusky rose Pima Tencel! And let this be a lesson to you! Always get all your yarn for a project up front, lest you reach the end and they don’t make it anymore…wah wah waaaah.

3) Coachella: Love this. Simple, sweet racer back top. Personally, I’d do this in a dark color, so you can Erin Go Braless.

4) Queen of Hearts Bikini: You can see this sweet little number hanging up in the shop, in hot pink with black hearts. Next time, I’d only make the top, and parade myself around in Dolores Park. Actually, I wouldn’t, given my current lack of an exercise regimen, but you, you lithe young thing, sally forth!

As for actually knitting at the D.P.? And/or the beach/P.Diddy’s yacht/plane to somewhere fabulous/road trip to Big Sur/giants game? I’d go with socks. Lightweight yarn, easily portable, and funtastic.

I only included a few here. What are your favorite hot weather knits? Tube top anyone? What knit goes best with a V&T?

Wishing you all get to take a couple days off and do something ultra relaxing and fabuloso.
