Welcome to the Cult (Knitting 101): Part 1 of 2

knitting50slady

Welcome to the cult–of knitting. In this two-part class you will learn everything you need to get you started on your new knitting obsession.

We will be working from a simple cowl pattern and by the end of class you should have a beautiful finished piece to show off.  This is an intro level class, so no prior knowledge of knitting is required.

You will learn how to:

  • Cast On (using the Long Tail Cast On method)
  • Knit Stitch
  • Purl Stitch
  • Bind Off (using the Basic Bind Off)
  • Stockinette Stitch and Garter Stitch

Materials Required (not included in cost of class–you can pick these up at Princess Animal–and get 10% off the yarn for the class. How rad is that?):

  • 1 skein Solid, Light Colored Worsted Weight Yarn (You will need approximately 200 yards for this project)
  • 1 set size 8 Knitting Needles
  • Yarn/Tapestry Needle for Finishing
  • Folder for Pattern/Handouts (optional)

Dates: June 1st and 8th

Instructor: Laura Malcervelli

We’ll meet at the shop, and then amble over to Mission Comics. If you have not purchased supplies ahead of time, we recommend showing up 10-15 minutes earlier so we can help you pick your yarn out!

Cost includes BOTH sessions.

Please see our class policies for additional information, including our refund and cancellation information.
